Interpersonal model of personality

This model emphasizes how our characteristics of personality or behaviours are shaped by our relationships. Several theories of personality either explicitly or implicitly acknowledge the role of relationship.

The attachment bonds between parents and children determine the sense of security ( Bowlby, Erikson). Emotionally insecure personalities have insecure relationship with their parents ( Sullivan, Horney). identification with the parent influences one’s moral and ethical aspects of personality.( Freud).

Relationship is not optional. We live in it. Relationship is so powerful that we may give up living naturally and may start living the way our near dear ones like..( Rogers).
